Lower prices help boost housing pace

Lower prices and the lure of the small-town lifestyle spurred housing construction to soar in two of Calgary’s outlying communities, says a federal agency.

Both Cochrane and Chestermere saw a climb in construction starts of homes of all kinds during the first four months of 2013, says Richard Cho, senior market analyst for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.
