See the Daring Experimentalist Who Won 2013's Pritzker Prize

Blog by Brad Herman | March 27th, 2013

The Hyatt Foundation has awarded the 2013 Pritzker Architecture Prize to Toyo Ito, 71, of Japan. Ito has created some of the most outstanding architecture of the past few decades, and since the tsunami in 2011 he has been overtly concerned with humanitarian efforts in his own country. He is the sixth architect from Japan to win what is considered the highest honor in architecture; the previous ones are Kenzo Tange (1987), Fumihiko Maki (1993), Tadao Ando (1995) and the duo Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa (2010).
